What does Selah Mean?

“Stop, and reflect upon something great”

Selah is an old Hebrew word that is used to indicate something like “stop and listen”.
“Selah” can also be used to indicate a musical interlude which is significant for Mark as music is an important aspect to his world. Mark also thought that a building should be something enjoyed, to stop, and reflect upon.

Community Work

Habitat for Humanity

We are passionate about working with those less fortunate than ourselves. In August 2008 our team of builders at Selah Construction volunteered with Habitat for Humanity in Cambodia, building homes for the poor. A life changing experience for us as well as for the Cambodian people. Since then we have been regularly involved with Habitat’s projects in New Zealand, e.g. the ”Guy’s v Gals Build” and the 2009 New Zealand Fashion Week Woman’s Build. In November 2009, Mark and his wife Liz, volunteered in Vietnam to build 32 houses in the Jimmy and Rosilyn Carter Mekong River building over 32 homes.
Christchurch Earthquake

In October, Selah builder Richard Solley spent an extended time in Christchurch assessing earthquake damaged homes for the Earthquake Commission.

With the tragic earthquake devastating the city in February Selah Construction will once again be offering our services to the EQC to assist where we can to help with the recovery effort.

School Makeover
Staff from Selah Construction have been involved in a number of Community Makeover projects where we are involved with hundreds of people coming together to provide a major makeover to schools in lower decile areas.
